Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep the floors clean enough to cut down on the frequency you'll need to manually vacuum. Choose one that has excellent navigation, is able to clean corners and stairs and also has a large dust bin that requires emptying only once in a while.
There are models that can mop and charge on their own This feature could be beneficial for those with pets or children. Many of the top performers in our tests also offer decent obstacle-avoiding capabilities.
1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO and its sibling the i3 EVO, are identical robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. This makes the i3+ an excellent choice for people who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience but don't mind manually emptying their robot's dustbin when it is full.
Both robots excel at picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors and they're excellent at maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart maps of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we test the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities, so it may be stuck on things like socks or power cords and it may have trouble in navigating through transitions between surfaces like from hardwood to carpet.
iRobot recommends that you tidy up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it may encounter. It's also recommended to keep the dust bin and filter clean so they do not become blocked by dirt. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is depleted, it returns to its docking station and automatically emptying its debris into the station's external dustbin and continues cleaning where it started. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of constant use. It takes three hours to fully charge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model of the flagship line from iRobot, and it is equipped with the most recent features. It is self-charging and self-navigating, but the most important feature is its self-emptying bin. This removes the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that allows it to map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot using voice or via the app.

The i7+ is more efficient and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from any surface, including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, is its self-emptying dustbin, which removes a major source of maintenance and lowers the cost of maintenance.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning session, move itself around the room, and even vacuum an area. cleaning robots made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. When connected, we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a sea of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum for most households and can fit perfectly next to the coffee table or a bookshelf where you can move it around like the magic device.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens, then lets cleaner air into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and pick up large dust or crumbs. It comes with three suction modes that can be adapted to the task. It is able to quickly switch between handheld and floor vacuum, and vice versa.
This model has a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100 percent within 3.5 hours. It also gives an easy access to two attachments as well as a Wand. This is a significant improvement over earlier Dysons, that require a long charge and are a pain to store.
The biggest issue with the V10 is its short run time. The claims of its marketing that it has up to 60 minutes of run time are misleading as CR's tests show. This is a typical, not an exceptional, time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. This is enough time to clean a typical-sized home but not enough to get into every corner. (A second pass is usually sufficient). This doesn't mean that this model doesn't have its benefits It's lighter and more maneuverable than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is significantly better on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums The 694 is an affordable model that's an excellent choice for people who don't want to invest too much on a robot. It's capable of sucking up most types of debris and sizes during our tests, and it often goes over the same areas multiple times to ensure a thorough clean. Its flat front allows it to reach the corners and the edges of walls.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models such as our top choices, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. This means that it may get stuck on things like phone cords and low furniture, and it often is power-depleted before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways, as it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin, and charges more quickly.
The RoboVac X8 is a slick RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for most reasons, since it has a better battery life, has the ability to alter the suction power mode by hand and comes with physical boundary strips, and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and is more effective on low-pile and bare floors.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a name that you see on all sorts of electronic gadgets for your home So it's no surprise that they're one of the most reputable mop and robot vacuum manufacturers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard tech for navigation and obstacles avoidance.
The app offers a wide range of options for customizing your robotic cleaner. This includes mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior modifications docking frequency settings, and much more. The app is simple to use and understand as are other Samsung devices.
In our tests our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86 percent of it. It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items such as socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's priced higher than other models we've tested, and this could be a problem for some buyers.
The app allows you to access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's area of cleaning. This feature lets you check in on pets or the kids if you're away from home. The filter and dustbin can be cleaned to make cleanup quick and easy. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean and tidy station that's self-emptying to keep the robot's dustbin clean and optimizes suction power for each cleaning run.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots have been designed specifically for hard flooring. The robots come with an extra-wide cleaning path, and dust bins that are 2X bigger than the competitors. This lets them clean the area for a longer period of time. Additionally, they come with two side sweepers that clean up around edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model comes with AutoSense technology, which senses if it's picking up dirt on surfaces or embedded dirt and then automatically adjusts its power level. The vacuum also has an app that allows users to see a virtual map, control functions, and set schedules. Plus, you can monitor the vacuum's battery status and send it back to its dock for charging at the push of the button. The app allows you to customize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum to determine where it is focused or if it has gotten stuck.
The application also allows you to steer the robot manually in the event of need. My living room rug for example, has a darkly-colored border that could cause trouble for other robots. The HRV 425BL however was able to continue to move across the border without ever registering the high point. The ability to program a cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving advantage.
